Unearth our hidden gems

Everyone loves a great little pub – cosy and welcoming, with real ales and freshly cooked food on the menu. We've taken the guesswork out of finding "the best pub and restaurant in the area" by compiling a nationwide list of more than 200 hidden gems where our Dining Out Card can be enjoyed.

Explore London's gastronomic heart

The streets of London may not be paved with gold, but their ancient alleyways, garden squares and modern attractions are punctuated with urban dining and drinking hotspots galore. The choice is impressive, but a few suggestions if we may...

Decamp to the bohemian chic of Soho's Crown and Two Chairmen, enjoy the near rural splendour of either The Spaniards Inn or The Freemasons Arms, both on the edge of Hampstead Heath, or indulge in a "gastropint" surrounded by the colonial splendour of Islington's Island Queen.

Dining in the regional centres

It's not all about London; our hidden gems reveal a wealth of urban culinary excellence at all points of the compass. So there's no need to settle for mealtime mediocrity when visiting the great towns and cities of England, Scotland and Wales.

The Hole In The Wall sits at the heart of Bristol's restored docks, just a short stroll from King Street and the Bristol Old Vic. Cardiff's Corner House serves fantastic food for city-centre shoppers and business people alike (and it's little more than a long lineout from the Millennium Stadium). In Glasgow's West End you'll find The Curler's Rest – a "comfortable pub with a cultural edge". And no trip to Edinburgh is complete without a round of skittles with lunch at its oldest, and quirkiest, pub: The Sheep Heid Inn.

Join our country club

Still in the regions, but this time more rural. Walk in the steps of Lewis Carroll, CS Lewis and Inspector Morse at The Trout in Lower Wolvercote, one of Oxford's best-known dining-out pubs. Rub shoulders with the Cheshire set at The Merlin, an impressive country house nestled between Wilmslow and Alderly Edge. Or head for the coast and into The Coombe Cellars, for a beer and spot of supper overlooking the peaceful solitude of the Teignmouth estuary.

Enjoy them all

Our Dining Out Cards can be enjoyed at any of our locations, from town to countryside. The only hard part will be choosing the perfect place to spend them.
